My journey into Craniosacral Therapy

My journey into complementary therapies began after receiving craniosacral therapy for neck issues. I had tried other treatments, which would alleviate, but never seemed to get to the cause.   After a few sessions of Craniosacral therapy  I regained movement and was free of pain.  I was inspired to attend the esteemed Craniosacral Therapy Education Trust in London for two years to train as a Craniosacral Therapist.

Types of Craniosacral Therapy on offer

Due to my experience and advanced levels of training I am able to offer Craniosacral Therapy both in person and on-line over zoom (see below) . I also offer Craniosacral Reflexology , as I am also fully qualified in Reflexology. I have also developed Craniosacral Lymphatic Release which is a fusion of techniques (see below)

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Complementary Natural Health Council (CNHC) official definition of Craniosacral Therapy:

Craniosacral Therapy is a hands-on therapy that uses a light touch and whose origins are in the practice of Osteopathy.

The body has self-healing capabilities and is constantly striving for good health. Craniosacral Therapy can facilitate this natural propensity for balance and a feeling of wellbeing in the client. Craniosacral Therapy also recognizes the interconnection between mind and body.

Craniosacral therapists work with the presence of subtle rhythmic motions that are expressed within the body (particularly the head, spine and pelvis). The free and balanced expression of these subtle motions is related to our state of health and vitality.

In a typical session the client will lie (or sometimes sit) clothed on a treatment couch. The therapist makes contact by gently placing her/his hands on the client's body and uses a light touch to tune into the subtle motions taking place. The therapist can evaluate if there are any imbalances within the body and use a range of non-invasive therapeutic skills to relax and thereby promote self-healing within the client.

I work with many types of client, I often see clients with severe pain who have tried many options before I meet them. I love to help people reduce pain and improve mobility and there are a few images below of great results with shoulders and backs. Physical issues often have an emotional connection. I am able to help clients with many conditions such as anxiety, depression and trauma. There is no need to recount or relive experiences, Craniosacral Therapy is gentle and subtle.

Working with Mums and Babies

I work with both Mum (or Dad/Carer) and baby in a session. Typically parents report a relaxed baby with better sleep. Mum and baby can relax together, and I often sense your nervous systems as one.

What is the difference between a Craniosacral Therapist and a Cranial Osteopath?

I am a Craniosacral Therapist. I a fully qualified and specialise in this area. I work biodynamically, meaning I work with the whole body system , without manipulation. So this is gentle and safe, with few contra-indications. My original background is in Reflexology and Beauty Therapy. Craniosacral therapy sessions last an hour.

A Cranial Osteopath is an osteopath, who undertakes additional training in Craniosacral work. So the biggest difference is the protected title of Osteopath, denoting a Doctorate in Osteopathy. Osteopaths typically work in shorter sessions.
